Modern kitchen Design
Sometimes referred to as the heart of the home, the kitchen is a place to prepare and cook food and, depending on the size, can be used to eat and entertain guests.
Modern kitchen design has undergone some significant changes in recent years. For instance, light kitchens were once very popular. These featured light colored cabinetry, such as honey pine, or even white cabinets. Light colored flooring was also a mainstay feature. However, today the story has changed a bit. Modern design trends are actually beginning to swing toward darker kitchens. While this might make you think of dimly lit, cavern-like spaces, the opposite is true. Darker kitchens can be quite relaxing, comfortable and even intimate.
Kitchen designs reflect the homeowner’s personality and style and since so much time is spent in the kitchen it should be efficient and comfortable. The design of the kitchen cabinets should be such that everything is within easy reach of someone working in the kitchen.
Contemporary designs for kitchens are always uncluttered and sleek. Cabinets and furnishings may have straight or curved lines, but are typically plain with a clean, fresh look. Cabinet handles are geometrical and simple rather than heavily detailed.
