1)     Take full advantage of the elastic strength to enhance the structural bearing capacity.

The non-prestressing structure finishes load-carrying when it reaches design strength F, called N1; prestressed steel structure starts with F01, the bearing capacity is N2 and N3, obviously N3>N2>N1.

 

2)     Improve load-carrying, save steel materials. Prestressing can be transformed to axial tension by exerting prestressing. Debases the peak value from Mmax to M’max%26shy; both area and materials are saved.

 

 

3)     Enhance the rigidity and stability, improve the attribute. The deformation under prestressing is opposite compared with regular loading.   Prestressing is able to adjust the structural recycling to improve the fatigue strength. Lighter structural weight also increased the earthquake resistance.
