What can we do for steel fire resistance

With springing up buildings and higher height, more and more people focus on steel structure. However, compared with concrete structure, one of the significant disadvantages is swift heat conduction. The strength and flexibility will greatly fall when it reaches 400℃ and the strength almost disappear under 600℃.

Uncoated steel only has 15-30 min fire endurance. According to our national fire resistance design regulation, the main bearing structure such as column, beam, wall and floor must be fire resistant for 30-180 min. We have explicit stipulated that fire precaution must be applied in steel structure and they have to be checked before acceptance.

There are many ways for fire resistance; in modern life we use fire-retardant coating to protect steel structure. With good heat-shielding performance and light weight, it is widely applied in construction industry.
